Mr Irving's marvellous oford wftb regard to historical accuracy in the matter o! eoitv tames is well exemplified in what occurred in connection with the robe which he wears in the part of Cardinal Wolsey. It appears that after diligent search in England the exact shade of color and fcrm of texture which he required could not be obtained; so an emissary was sent even to Rome to acquire a cardinal’s robe there. After some time Mr Irving’s friend managed to secure One of the time of Henry VIII. An exact copy of the oo'o.’ and texture was made, and this Mr Irving is wearing.
