CITY COUNCIL REPORTS.
The following report, in addition to those published by ns last night, will be presented at to-night’s meeting of the City Council
The Gas Committee recommend a reduction in the price of coke all round of 4a, as already advertised; that the small exhauster at the gasworks be altered so as to enable it to be driven at a higher rate of speed, at a cost of Ll9 15s; that the contract with the Sutherland Manure Company for the removal of the spent lime at the gasworks be cancelled, and that the material be advertised for sale at 6d a load: that 80j ds of 4 n mains be laid in Eden street, as recommended by the gas engineer, at a coat of L 24 12s; and that the town clerk be instructed to change the clerk at the gasworks each alternate month by substituting different members of the staff, and that the officers to be so employed be Messrs Evans, Leighton, and Bolt. The Committee report that Mr Graham has been informed that the gas be is at present supplying the public is of an inferior quality, and must be improved, and that failing improvement in the quality he has been informed that the Committee will hold him responsible for the same.
