ANOTHER RAILWAY ACCIDENT.

NINE PERSONS KILLED.

SYDNEY, Apbil 27. (Received April 27, 1882, at 1.15 p.m.)

News has just been received to town of a dreadful railway accident at Scdwalle, on the Bathurst line. The train ran off the rails and was smashed op. Nine persons are reported to have been killed and twelve injured. No details are yet to hand.

(Received April 27, 1802, at 2 p.m.) Farther particulars of the accident are to hand. It appears that the western mail train left Redfern last night well laden with passengers, and that when between SodwaHs and Tarana this morning the last three carriages, including a sleeping oar, were derailed, owing to a broken rail, which it is supposed was caused by the first part of the train. Among those killed the following have been identified:—Mrs M'Donnld, Kerstein (the engine-driver), Messrs Disbington and Doid (the last named being a New Zealander), The other bodies have not yet been identified.

The list of the injured numbers fifteen. The injuries of twelve of this number are of a serious nature, and the sufferers have been removed to the Bathnrst Hospital. Messrs Miltborpe (a settler), 'Symons, Latimer, and Gilmour (a billiard marker) have received scalp wounds. Besides other injuries, Milthorpe had one of his legs crushed.

Three children, whose names are unknown, are among the wounded, and it is believed that their parents are among those killed.

The names of the other passengers who were injured are at present unknown.

(Received April 87, 1892, at 8.15 p.m.) .No first-class passengers were injured, Dishington, one of those killed, is also supposed to hail from New Zealand. Most of those killed were travelling in the mall van, which was smashed to atoms.

The bodies of three women and two men are still unidentified.
