THE MINISTER OF LANDS.
SO THH BDROB. Snt,—Mr M'Kenzie at last night's meet' ing at Goro gloated over having put Mr J. R. Scott into prison, but he forgot to tell hU hearers that the samo ends would have been attained by suing Mr Scott in the ordinary way, when he could have fallen back on the National Mortgage Company. The Liberals of the stamp of Mr M'Kenzie like to oppress their enemies. He took care not to refer to tho small farmer in the South who, beoanse his half-year's rent waß in arrear thirty-one days, was ordered to be fined L3l. His attaok on Mr T. Maokenzie did not go down, and his sneering at Mr Rolleston was ■out of good taste. Mr Rolleston is the best and most liberal land administrator this oolony haß e rer had, and he gave valuable support to the present Ministry in the best parts of the Land Bill, whioh, however, are only copied from the present laws.—l am, etc. Colonist. Dunedin, April 23.
