The Invcroargill pasaed Taiaroa Heads at 8 a.m. yesterday bound north. The brigantlne Entoipiiie is loading for Napier at the wharf. The Wakatipn is taking In cargo for Sydney at Dunedin wharf. The barque Elisabeth will ba e'ear of her Dunedin cargo this evening. The Tokapo arrived at 6 am. to-day ard anchored in the Quarantine Ground, and after discharging 203 cases dynamite, she up the harbor and was berthed at the. export pier. She left Auokland at 7 p.m. on the 21st rounded the East Cape at 7 p.m. 22nd, breasted Akaroa at 3 p.m. 24th, and arrived as above. Frcm Auckland to Akaroa had N.W. winds, and from thence light S.W. to arrival. The Napier left Dunedin yesterday afternoon for Owake River. Tho Duke of Sutherland has taken in 2,019 oarcafses froz?.n mutton, 334 cases preserved meats, and 1,400 owes cheese. Tho Garman Govornment are disoussing tho position of the Norddeutecher-Lloyd Steamship Company trading to the colonies, and who are losing a large rom of money, despite a sub stantial subsidy. It u suggested that the company should abandon the Sydney and Sum >a service, as it was explained that the company is unabla io compoto with the Peninsular and Oriental Company. In 1887 tho company proposed to transfer three of their veesele trading to America to the Australian line, bat the Government would not allow it. It is expeoted that the nervico will be reorganised. The atxt expected arrival from over-sea Is the German barque P. quita, now well due, from Hamburg. ThoTalune was hauled out of the graving dock this afternoon and berthed at the George street pier. Sinco hor lay up alterations have been made in her pissenger accommodation. Her poop has been extended to tho bridge deck, thereby affording an extended promenade for first-class passengers; while tho upper promenade deck, formerly reached by ladders from the end of the poop, is now gained by means of a companion stairway loading from the main saloon. The after hatches have been lifted and replaced on tbo new promenade deck, in order to prevent interference with the comfort of the pa3Rengers and at the same time to facilitate tha rapid woriiog of curgo. All tho deck work has been cleaned, painted, and graiocd, and the boats have bsen duly overhauled and painted. The whole of the engine rooms have been thoroughly overhauled, under the supervision of Mr Cook, the company's superintending engineer; while the ship has been docked, cleaned, and repainted. Every possible care has been devoted to the alterations in tho main saloon, and the whole of the state rooms la it have been removed, so that nothing but a handsome dinirg compartment now remains; while outside this spaco is (what really was in this fine boat "a felt want") a suite of first-class baths and lavatories, and Bhe has now a obade deck, whioh will be a great boon to the trav< lilng public During the weok ended April 24 the following vessels have been at the Duuedin wharves:-Arrivals: Enterprise 81 tonß, Tarawera 1,209, Rosamond 462, B.unner 332, Manapouri 1 020, Spray 50, Wakatipu 1,258, Rotorua 576, Napier 48 ; total, 5,099 ton*. Departures: Pukaki 917 tons, Invercargill 123, Tarawcra 1,269, Nspier 48, Manapouri 1,020, Rosamond 4*52, Brunner 332; total, 4171 tons.
