FOOTBALL.
THE TJHIOH OUJB. The twentieth annaal meeting of the Union Football Club was held last night, Dr Maopheraon (vice-president) oooupying the onalr. About sixty members were in attendance, and apologies were received from Dr Batcnelor (president) and Mr J. H. Chapman (vioeE resident), the former stating that he would e unable to hold office owing to his intended departure from the colony. The annual report showed that the club financially was in a good position. The receipts (inoluding a balanoe of L2O) were L 74 lis 6d, and the expenditure L7l 10s 7Jd, leaving a balanoe of L 3 0s 10£ d. The expense had been very heavy, no less a sum than L 62 15s 9d having been expended on the ground alone to provide for the convenience of players and spectators. During the year the public voluutarily subscribed Ll6 at the gates. The m?mbersh'p roll was also Batißfaotory, there being 103 names on the books. There were over tifty playing members, which enabled three fifteens to be placed in the field. Messrs T. Henderson, F Wright, G. Grieve, K. Tattersall, and W. M-Kinley retired from the club this year. The First Fifteen played 12 matches, winning six. losing five, and drawing 1. i'he Second Fifteen played 13 matches, winning 6, losing 5, and drawing 2 ; whi'o the Third Fifteen played 9,Jwinning 3 and losing 6. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, expressed the pleasure he felt in knowing that the club had had such a successful year. He referred especially to the healthy state of the finances, considering the large expenditure incurred. Tho following office-bearers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr J. H. Chapman (elected unopposed ftmid much applause); vice-pr p sidmts —Dr Maopheraon (re-elected) and Mr T. A. Hur.tcr; h<m. secretary and treasurer, Mr J. K. M'Connochie (re-eleoted); general committee— Messrs \Y. Beadle, J. Hope, R. M'Kinky, J. Alexander, T. Henderson, and B Ringer; delegates to O.R.F.U.—Dr Macphersun and Mr T. E. Djwnea; match committee— Messrs C. Booby and P. Nichol; auditors— Messrs T. Inglis and J. Ireland. Some twenty new members were propostd for election.
It was decided that the opening match should be played on the first Saturday in April—President v. Vice-president. The meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to Dr Macpherson for presiding.
THE NOIiTHERX ASSOCIATION CLUU.
The annual meeting of the above club wis held last night, when about a d'z«u members attended. Mr J. Duncan presided. Tho report showed that the cluh b:A kul a prosperous year. Seventee.l matches had been played. In tho inter-club matches, "f which there were seven played, the club •von five and lost two. The total number of goals scored by the club in matches was ten for and five against, which _ was a very good record. Frooi this it would be plain that the club had improved their play, as they had this season achieved the proud position of premier team. It was hoped that the question of a ground for the coming season would be settled beforo lorg. The Hon. W. H. Reynolds had resigned bis presidentship. The vice-presidents wore all written to, but only one answered—viz., His Honor Mr Justice William*, who enclosed a subscription of LI Is—the others apparently forgetting both to answer and to forward their donation.
The following cilice-bearers were elected : —Captain, Mr George Munro ; vice-captain, Mr Campbell; secretary, Mr R, Walker ; treasurer, Mr A. Sharpc.
