A remarkable instance of endurance in the case of a dog is recorded in an American scientific journal. On the night of September 27 last the janitor of Parker Hall, Mmasquan, New Jersey, his ticket office to put away acme old tickets, and found a dog crawliog about his feet in a condition of extreme emaciation. The office had not been opened since September 1, sc that the dog had subsisted for twenty-seven days without food or water. Some old tickets and a cigar box had been chewed to bits by the famishing animal. A loaf ox bread and water to drink was given him and eagerly devoured. He soon recovered.
