Strange Case of Paris Blackmailing.

The editor of one of the many blackmailing sheets that are published in Paris has come to grief in the Correctional Tribunal. Unlike hie confrires, he was ready either to praise or to attack the wealthy buainees men, whose reputations he blackened in * La France Commerciale,' a weekly paper edited by him under the name of DucLatel. He was ready to whitewash them the next day in the 'Union Sociale,' which he conducted under the name of Paul Dumont. It wsb impossible that papers of such opposite views of human virtue should remain long on good terms, and Paul Dumont and Duchatel were perpetually -at loggerhead?. Indeed, they handled each other with such virulence that a duel, the readers of the two papers were informed, was actually decided upon. The affair, however, was arranged by the seconds. Latterly, Ducbatel having selected the leading Franch brewers for exposure in the ' France Commerciale,' Paul Dumont offered to publish flittering portraits of them in the ' Union Sociale.' Several brewers accepted his services, and, of course, paid for them. At length it was discovered that Ducbatel and Dumont were the same person, and proceedings were begun againßt him. He appeared subsequently before the Correctional Tribunal, under bis real name of Delia, and was sentenced to five years' imprisonment.— 'Daily News,'
