She eft Nelson on the sth inst, at 3 p.m., ealled at Wellington, Lyttelton, and Akaroa. left the latttr port at 6.15 pm. on the Bth mat., and arrived here as above. The Invercargill, now in the graving dock, U havicg her machinery thoroughly overhauled, while the hull is being painted and the inside restrained. , . . , The ship Canterbury is taking on bi>ard a supply of coals from the hulks in the stream off ° The ship Andora ia faßt filling up with her cargo of oats for LondoD. SOUNDS EXCURSION. The fifteenth excursion season to tbfl West Coast Sounds will be inaugurated on Monday by the departure cf the s.s. Tarawera from Port Chalmers. Durlog the week she has been docked at Port Chalmers, scraped clean, and thoroughly repainted outside. The whole of the deok work has been painted and varnished, and tbe teak work repollshed. A fall complement of extra boat', together with a steam launch, has been taken on board. A complete supply of fishing tackle has been provided, while due attention h»s been pa'd to laying in a good «tock of cases in which botanists can pack tne rare fei which the Sounds abound. Tho whole of the baths and lavatories have been painted and lepolished. The Becond saloon, whloh has been set apart for single gentlemen, has been most carefully fitted up for their use. The tween deoks have been as usual prepared for the purposes of a theatre and concert tall. They are thickly carpeted and thoroughly lighted by electricity. The stage his been very carefully decorated, and with the wings and drop scene looks remarkably pretty. Special provision for dancing has been made on the promenade deck, which, when required for use, will be closely curtained In and lit by electricity. «„.„„.
