Mr Nicoll, manager of the Herculeß No. 2 Goldmlning Company, writing on the 24th, reports that there 1b great irregularity in the water supply, owing to some aotion whioh takes place at the Roxburgh Amalgamated Company's reservoir at Lake Onslow. On the 23rd he sent a man to turn down water, in compliance with a requisition from the Roxburgh Water Raoe Company. After the watbr had been turned down for hbout an hour the Teviot stream oame down in full flood, leaving about fifty heads running to waste. In twelve hours afterwards there was again a short supply, only thirty-two heads altogether being in the stream. On last Tu»sday night tho flame was frczan, causing a stoppage for thirteen hours. Since then up to date of writing he had been able to keep going, although the night froßts have been very severe. One of ihe workmen, Hugh Irvine, got his foot caught in tho elsvator opening, and was rather badly bruised. The sole and upper of his boot weie dragged off and torn to pieces. The water had to be shut off to get him dear, and the back-flow from the elevator nearly drowned him. Mr Nicoll further states that he was disappointed with the last washing up. The gold was lighter and of a different kind from that obtained on the previous washing up. He thinks that the run has tnrned inland. THE LONDON MARKETS.
