The following acceptances have been received for the Grand National meeting:— Steeplechase, of 500 sovs: Ahua, Sentinel, Jenny, Tauraekaitai, Oeo, Darnley, Kangaroo, Folly, Waitangi, Otaieri, Freeman, Black Gin, Christmas, Morok. The Hawke's Bay Club have drawn np the following finding on the Warepa affair : "That the bay gelding that ran at the Town and Suburban race meeting on the 26th of May last, under the name of Carmo, is the same horse that ran at Flemington, Victoria, in 1886, under the name of Problem, and also ran at Forbury, Otago, in 1886, under the name of Warepa, and also ran at Westport on the 26th December last, and at Greymouth on 31st December and Ist January last, under the name of Redeem. The Committee find that the hone Problem was disqualified for ever in 1886 by the Dunedin Jockey Club, and this club then endorsed that decision. The following is a description of the horse: Light bay gelding, aged, about sixteen hands, white blaze down face, two white bind points extending np over the fetlock joints, white marks over the coronet on the forelegs, both forehoofs been tampered with, brand off side close to the mane. The Committee disqualify for life Sydney G. Parkes, of Wellington, owner; William Parkes, of Wellington, owner ; Bernard Ferrars, late of Wairarapa, nominator; and George Smith, late of the Hutt, Wellington, trainer of the aforesaid gelding." In the course of the inquiry the Committee found that several persons had had a knowledge of the fraud, and, although not directly connected with the horse, are more or less placed under suspicion. These persons are cautioned that their conduct will be closely watched in the future. The Committee oensider that the stewards of the Town and Country Racing Club showed A great lack of appreciation of their duties in allowing the horse to start, and in consequence order them to pay the cost of inquiry. That a copy of the above be forwarded to ail the metropolitan clubs in the colony, and that they be asked, in view of the circumstances of the case, and the difficulty involved in conducting the inquiry, to take eqpecial care that all the persons mentioned be warned off any and all courses under their control, and that all Australian jockey clubs be notified of the facts. The Auckland and Otahuhu Trotting Clubs have disqualified for life the mare Dolly (or Makokomiko) and all those persons interested in her racing at the Huntly disaster meeting. Dolly is proved to be a ringer." Strath Taieri Coursing Club's last meeting of the season on Wednesday. Nominations and acceptances close to-morrow evening. The annual draughts tournament having come to a finish, the prizes will be given to the successful winners to-morrow, A mßtch will also take place, sides to be chosen by the president and treasurer. Tahuna Park was the place chosen for the members of the newly-formed Polo Clnb to meet for their first game on Saturday afternoon. The weather was good until the came ended. Many horsemen turned up, and from among them two teams were chosen. On one side were Colonel Sinclair, Messrs A, Palmer, Manders, W. J. Taggart (captain), and Master J. Roberts; whilst on the other were Messrs T. Taylor, A. King, J. Loughlan, K. Begg (captain), and Master D. Taggart. The players seemed to have a fair knowledge of the game, and their ponies, considering the little training they have had, did remarkably well. The game lag ted about an hour and a-half, and resulted in a win for Mr Taggart's side by 3 points to 1. Tries were secured by Messrs Palmer, Taggart, and Colonel Sinclair for the winning team, and for the other side by Master Taggart. Darnley, Jet d'Ean, Leonie, Kimberley, Caitiff, Dan, and Christmas left Wellington this afternoon to fulfil their engagements at Christchurch next month.

None of Mr Gollan's horses have been legitimately backed for the New Zealand Cup, indeed it is said thxt the owner of the Martindale stable has not speculated a shilling on this event up to the present. The following were backed in Wellington laßt week for a good stake at the prices mentioned : 100 to 8 Strephon (tk) 100 to e Fratemite ('k) 100 to 6 Workman (tk). 300 to 21 was offered about Blizeard (about whom there were inquiries) without leading to business, and the same price was obtainable about Tirailleur, Crackshot, or Tiraillerie.__ FOOTBALL. Alhambra Second beat Taieri Second by one goal and one try to nil. Tries were obtained by Haig and Fahey, one of which Lambeth converted from a couple of yards from the line-out. Kaikorai Second v. Warehousemen was played on the gronnd of the former on Saturday, and resulted in a win for the Kaikorai by one try to nil. In the first ep?ll the Waiehousemen, playing with the wind and hill in their favor, were on several occasions within an ace of scoring, which was only prevented by the stubborn defence of their opponents. In the second spell the Kaikorai, haviDg everything in their favor, soon had their opponents in difficulties, and from a dribbling rush Sinclair dashed over the line and scored the coveted try. King failed to register the major points. For the rest of the game the Warehousemen, although very hard pressed at times, managed to defend their lines successfully till the whistle blew. The following were most conspicuous for Kaikorai: B&ckB King, Armit, Mosgiel; forwards—Ballantyne, Barr, Gawn, and Davie; while Haydon, Cooper, Stephenson, M'Robie, and Mutheson showed up prominently for the Warehousemen. Mr M'Rorie held the whistle and gave every satisfaction. Two association games were played en Saturday. A team from Ronlyn, minus four of their men, journeyed to Kaitangata, and, finding substitutes on the gronnd, tried conclusions with the local club. The latter, who are very warm players, had matters pretty well their own way, and quickly gained three goals. In the second spell the town men livened up a bit, but it was a short-lived effort, for the Kutangataites fairly ran over them and piled on the score. Nine goals to nil was the final record. The Northern team played Burnside at the N.E. Valley, and defeated tnem by one goal to nil. Morland, Scott, Eastoo, Mnnro, Campbell, and M'Leod played well for their respective sides.
