The amount of revenue collected at the Custom-house on goods cleared to-day for consumption was L 715 7s fid. The Customs duties collected fur the year ended March, 1891, was L 1.662,510, and the cost of collection amounted to L2 per cent. In the previous year it was L2 0s 2d. The rate per cent. In Dunedin Is the lowest, LI 15s per cent.; Christchurch and Lyttelton, LI 19s 10J. At Mongonui it cost Ll6lßs fid, MINING NOTES. The secretary of the Dunedin Gold Dredging Company received the following telegram on Saturday“ Dredging six days for 460z gold.” Mr Callender, secretary Sew Hoy Big Beach Gold Mining Company, Limited, has received a telegram stating that 1460z Bdwt 4gr retorted gold had been lodged in bank. The dredges are now in good working order, after considerable alterations made to the gold-saving appliances, and all are on good gold.
