FOOTBALL GOSSIP.
Interest will be divided to-morrow between the meeting of the Alhambra and Taieri, at Mosgiel, and those old rivals the Union and Danedin, at the Northern Ground. The Rugby Union have held four meetings' into the alleged " selling" of the opening: match of the season, and meet finally tomorrow evening in connection with this matter. One of the Eaikorai players, M'Laren, has been suspended daring the pleasure of the Union for twice disobeying their mandate calling on him to attend to answer a certain complaint lodged by Eeogh. The Pirates will be considerably weakened to-morrow by the absence of the Morris brothers, occasioned by the death of a relative. Under these circumstances the Kaikorai team should cairy the game. Merivale and East Christchurch meet at Cbrißtohnrch to-morrow, and the winner of this round ought to secure the championship. Refebsb.
