THE FAVORITE WINS. By Eleotbio Tblbgbaph—Coftbioe t j (Pbb Fbbss Association.] LONDON, May 27. (Received May 28, 1891. at 10.30 a.m.) The following is the result of the Derby, run today at Epsom : THE DERBY STAKES, of 6,000 sovs for the winner, EOO sovs for the nominator of the winner, 800 sovs for the owner of the second, and 200 sovs for the owner ol the third hone, by subscription of 50 sovs each, half forfeit; any surplus to be paid to the winner. About a mile and a-half. Lord Alinirton's br c Common, by Isonomy— Thistle, 9st .. .. .. .. .. 1 M. E. Blanc's ch o Oouverneur, by Energy— Gladia,9st 2 Sir J. Duke's b c Martenburst, by Wenlock—flirondelle, 9at .. ..3 Common, who is trained by J. Porter, at Eingsclere, did not race as a two-year-old, but this season won the Two Thousand Guineas, sinoe when he has been a hot favorite for the Derby. His success upsets the calculations of those backers who were operating during the winter, their selections being pretty well confined to Orion, Orvieto, Peter Flower, Gouverneur, and The Deemster. This year is the 112 th time the Derby has been run. Gouverneur, who finished second, is trained by T. Jennings, and was a promising performer last year, having won three of the eight racea in which he entered. This colt was probably ridden by Webb.

Martenhurst won three and lost four races last season, and is trained at Haley by W. G, Stevens.
