THE KAKANUI.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I see by your paper of the 24th April that a writer signing himself "J. H. Stock" writes to say that the Invercargill borrowed life buoys from the Kakanui in order to pass the Government inspector some years ago. That statement I most emphatically deny, as I was on board of the boat from fcke time she came from the builders (Messrs M'Queen and Co.), who put aboard all the life buoys and everything else required at that time by ths am, etc., C. F. Sr/NDSTROM. Wellington, May 1.
