THE MIDLAND RAILWAY.
A public meeting was held at Greymontn last evening to consider the obstacles which are being thrown in the way of the Midland Railway Company in connection with the Lake Brunner deviation. The following resolution was carried unanimously:— “ That the meeting views with much apprehension the difficulty that has arisen between the Government and the company, and is strongly of opinion that the agreement entered into by the people of Kumara, Greenstone, and Grey County with the company should be adhered to, especially as the Grey County and General Government alike are satisfied with that arrangement, and accepted L 2,700 as a basis of agreement.”
