Lord and Lady Onslow have arrived at Dargaville, having travelled overland from the Bay of Islands, The two seamen of the barque Broomhall, who were arrested at Auckland for alleged broaching of cargo, have been discharged. The creditors in the bankruptcy estate of Mrs Letitia Brown, of Auckland, hotelkeeper, "have decided to take legal proceedings against Mrs Thompson, a debtor, for the recovery of LIOO. This money was delivered by Mrs Brown to Mrs Thompson, but the latter states she lost it in the street, Mr H. L. Christie, of Saddle Hill, was yesterday appointed ranger for the Taieri County Council. There were thirty-nine applications for the appointment. Further evidence in support of the charge against Captain Verney, M.P., has been taken by the London Bench, and the accused committed for trial. The Court fixed the bail at L 15,000, and as Captain Verney succeeded in getting sureties for that amount he was liberated.

The Taieri Poultry and Canary Show has been fixed for July 25. The Dunedin Poultry, Pigeon, Canary, and Dog Society will hold a social on the second night of their show. The president, finding it impossible to proceed to Christchurch as a delegate to the Kennel Club, Mr Carlton will go in his place.
