Every item of revenue shows an increase on the estimate, except depasturing licenses, etc., which are L 4,717 to the bad. Under the heading " expenditure ” there was L57.08S less on certain items than was estimated, but on the remainder the excess of expenditure came to L 106,693, so that altogether the expenditure was L 49,605 above the estimates. The working railways cost L 27.892 more than anticipated; defence, L 14,711; subsidies, L 14,658; under special Acts, L 19.140; Colonial Treasurer’s Department, L 11,166 ; and services not provided for, L 10,410. On the other hand, interest and sinking fund came to L 17,369 less than the estimate; Education Department, L 16,581; public buildings, L 7,994; and Commissioner of Trades and Customs, L 7,663. The principal items in which there was excess of revenue over the estimates were— Customs, L 74.706 (in which, however, is included six months’ primage duty); railways, L 43,421; stamps, L 19,190; miscellaneous, L 9,004. The total excess of revenue over estimates was L 161.004. In the land fund section the estimated receipts were L 96,600, but the cash sales alone produced L 111,157. The excess above estimate was L 67.669.
