Cavebsham. —There were present at this Council’s meeting last night the Mayor (Mr Bridgman), Crs M'Laren, Baverstock, M'Gonigal, Hancock, Allen, Boyes, Ruston, Rutherford, M‘lndoe, and Wilson.—The Works Committee recommended that 40yds of rotten rock be spread in front of Mr R. Campbell’s property at a cost of Ls. The Inspector reported that the wall at the St. Clair Baths had been built, and the foundation of the old wall between Beach street and the baths repaired. There were about 36ft of the wall requiring to be rebuilt as soon as possible to prevent further damage to the roadway. It would be necessary to provide some metal for repairs to the roads and streets, more especially the Main road and Wilkie road.—lt was resolved to proceed with the work of repairing the wall at St. Clair. The Drainage Committee recommended that 9in pipes be laid on Forbury road from Mr Haase’s house to Alfred street.—Consideration of Mr J. Ellis’s letter complaining that persons had been seen removing nightsoil from Caversham School was postponed,—The Clerk of the Maori Hill Council wrote suggesting the desirability of holding a conference of delegates from the suburban boroughs with a view of amending the law relating to hawkers’ licenses.
