THE MEDICAL CONGRESS.
The Nelson Conference have considered the proposals made by the Auckland branch re the amendment of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Act. It was resolved to recommend that the hospital boards of management should be distinct from the charitable aid boards; that the hObpital boards should have on them representatives from the ratepayers, elected directly or through the charitable aid boards, also nominees of the Government and members elected by voluntary contributors to the funds of the hospitals, and by the visiting medical staff where the hospital has such a staff. These propositions came from the Auckland branch on account of the condition into which the management of the Auckland Hospital had come doting the past few months, as this branch thinks, through the constitution of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. It was resolved also that it was desirable that in the larger centres of population there should be a visiting medical staff connected with the hospitals. The delegates of all the branches were unanimous bn this point, and expressed sympathy with the profession in Auckland in their present dispute With the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, These recommendations were made by the Association With a view of aiding the hands of the Auckland branch in effecting reforms by legislation,— * Colonist.'
