A rumor is current that a revolution has broken out in the Republic of Chili, owing to the President, Balmaceda, refusing to convene the National Congress. A terrible epidemic of smallpox is raging throughout the Republic of Guatemala, and 20,000 deaths are reported. During the recent revolt the Natives of Onea, one of the Caroline Islands, killed 300 foreigners, and as the excitement has extended over the whole group, it is feared that a general massacre will result.
