SCHOOL COMMITTEES

The Arthur street Committee’s meeting last evening was attended by Messrs Bure (in the chair), Adams, Crawford, Isaacs, Bain, and M’Adam, The head-master reported that for the quarter ended December the average attendance was—Boys, 321 ; girls, 257 ; total, 578. The number on the register was—Boys, 351 ; girls, 286; total, 637. It was resolved to recommend Mits M'Leod for the position of third assistant. The High street School Committee decided to recommend the Board to appoint Misa Jessie Cairns, of the North School, Oamaru, to the position of sixth assistant. There were twenty-six applicants for the post. Messrs Fraer and Macgregor were nominated for the vacancies on the Education Board.
