LOUDON, January 7.
The conference between Messrs O’Brien and Parnell has ended, and it is officially Intimated that a peaceable settlement of the question of leadership is expected. It is Reported that Mr Parnell agrees to retire from the lead if Mr Justin M'Carthy resigns, thus leaving the whole party to elect a new leader.
Mr Arnold Morley, M.P., is reported to have warned Mr O’Brien that Mr Gladstone insists on Mr Parnell’s final withdrawal from public life. Mr Dillon approves of Mr O’Brien temporarily replacing Mr Parnell as leader ol thefparty.

It is reported that Mr O’Brien agrees to use his influence to depose Mr M‘Carthy and secure bis own or Mr Dillon’s election as chief of the Irish party. On his part Mr Parnell is to retire from active service until the next general election, and to transfer to Mr O'Brien ten or flfteen thousand pounds of the League s funds for a fund for the Tipperary tenants.
The fund for the relief of distressed Irish families, started by Secretary Balfour and Earl Zetland, has already reached L6,(K)O. Mr Justin M'Carthy starts for Boulogne immediately to interview Mr O’Brien.
