STOCK AND STATION REPORT.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report for the week ended January 7 as follows Fat Cattle.—227 head came forward for this day’s sales at Bnrnside, comprising a few very heavy weights of prime quality; also some medium weights, prime, the rest only medium quality bullocks, including some aged cows. The principal buyers In the trade being supplied from outside, there were fewer required by those who attended the sales to-day. This entry being in excess of requirements, the demand was weak at the start, which became more feeble towards the close. Bast bullocks brought L 7 5s to L 8 5 b ; one or two extra heavy t 9 10s; medium, Lo 15s to L 6 15b ; light, L 3 15s to L 5 ss; best cows, L 5 17s 6d to L6'l7s6d; light weights and medium quality, L2 5s to
L 4 10s. We sold, on account of Ur Robert Tapper (Clifdenh bullocks to L9los and cows to L6l7s 6d; Mr William Quinn (Makfkihi), cows, to L 5 ss; Mr J. (Offt'il, cows and heifers at quotations Fat Sheep.—l,994 were penned, all cftfssbred wethers and ewes, the latter predominating; mostly all medium quality, only a few prime. The wethers to bane were mostly- prime, and compared with the last two entries heavier in height, The entry being moderate, a very good demand wm experienced, the most improvement being noticeabib in medium quality. Best cross-bred wethers brofighf 13s 6d to 14s 6d; medium, 11s to 13s; best do ewefl, 12a 9d to 13a 3d; medium, 9a to lls fid. We sold on account of Mr R. Morrison (Otepopo), mixed oross-b'reda to 10s 9d| Mr John Drinn>n (Milburn), crossbred ewes in the wool to 17s 9d.
Fat Lambs.—79l were penned, comprising various degrees of quality. A moderately fair demand was experienced at lower prices at the commencement, but down towards the close there were fewer buyers, when still lower prices had to be accepted. Beat brought 7s to 9s; a few picked, 10s to 10a fid; medium to good, 5s to fis 9d. We sold on account of Mr R. Morrison (Otepopo) 37 at fis, Mr John Paterson (Clarendon), SI at Bs, Messrs W. and J. Paterson (Clarendon), 24 at 7a 9d; Mr John Drlnnan (Milburn), 19 at 7s fid. Pigs.—There was an exceedingly full entry of these penned on Wednesday—viz., 449 mostly stores and suckers, with some prime porkers and baconers. The demand, except for suckers, was poor, prices being greatly in favor of buyers. Suckers brought 5s to 13s; slips, lls 6a to 14s; stores, 16s fid to 20a fid ; porkers, 21s to 265; baconers, 27s to 325; extra heavy, to 455. We sold 133 at quotations. THE LONDON MARKETS. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company have received the following telegram from their London office, dated 7th Inst.Wheat: New Zealand wheat (average) is worth 36s fid per 4961b. ”
