LAND BOARD.
The Land Board met this morning, when there were present—Mr J. F. Maitland, Ghtef Commissioner (in the chair), and Messrs dark, Dallas, and Thomson, M.H.R. . The Clerk of the Lake County Council transmitted a supplementary list of deferred payment, perpetual-lease, and small gracing run moneys proposed to be expended on road Tines. Lists were similarly sent by the Taieri, Tuapeka, and Waitaki County Councils.— Road lines approved. Mr Ellison Orbell asked the Board to consider their decision declining to give him compensation for improvements on his small grazing run 17IH on account of grass seed sown amounting to LBs.—Valuation to the extent o L2O to be allowed for surface sowing with cocksfoot grass seed. Letters from Messrs Curran and Scott for time to pay up arrears of interest at Lower Ha we* and Knrow, with the view of enabling them to obtain a reduction of their capital values under the Selectors’ Revaluation Act, were considered.—Time asked for to be allowed on the understanding that if the amounts were not paid at the date mentioned the Board would proceed to forfeit without further notice. Mr James Linton asked permission to surrender run No. 433, Vincent County, as he could not stock or look after it, and it would not pay to employ anyone to do so.—Referred to Government for consideration. Mr Alfred Bevins, secretary Public Hall Committee, wrote asking that three acres of section 8, block 9, Maerewhenua district, bordering the river on the south side, be granted as a site for a public hall and recreation ground for tho district.—Referred to warden to report whan in the district. The Under-Beeretary of Crown Lands wrote stating that no lands er ould he leased at Milford Sound without the proposals being submitted to the Government for consideration.— Noted. The Board was asked to decide whether section 4, block 7, Lower Hawea district, lately held by Hr John Matheson under perpetual lease, should be reopened at the present cash value of 15a per acre or be renotified at a reduced rate, the section being veiy poor.—To be cCered at 12s 6d per acre. Ur Thomas M'lionnell asked for the occa pation right over the small mining reserve of about eight acres in section 11, block 10, Shotover district, on the condition of keeping down the rabbits.—Referred to Banger Mackenzie for report. The Warden at Lawrence forwarded and recommended for favorable consideration an application from Mrs Mary Young to purchase a small portion of ground lying between sections 10 and 83, block 4, Toapeka East district, containing about two acres, which she bad cleared and improved.—Declined, a suggestion being made that the applicant apply to the warden for an occupation lease. The following applications for rural land on perpetual lease were approved: Gideon J. Scott, section 3, block 13, Rimn district; David Saler, section 8, block 4, (Woodland. Applications to complete purchase of deferredpayment land were approved in the cases of William Pollock, section 72, block 1, Otepopo, and Bernard Dogherty, section '5, block 5, Maniototo. The application to transfer the perpetual lease of sections 9 and 10, block 14, Maniototo district, from Michael Graham to Maria Graham was approved. The Chief Surveyor forwarded a survey of the following sections in block 10, Olemomaru district, with the view of the lands being notified : Section. Area. M‘Donald, Hindon; John Elliot, Strath Taieri; J. Sutherland, Dunedin; W, Muroott, Moeraki; R. Fairbairn and G. E. Green, Waihola , and John Fox and Allison, Hawea. In connection with an application by Colin M’Donald to purchase an old mill site in Gleakenich district, the ranger reported that the area was now included in run 140 a, held by Mr bheath, and that his consent would be necessary to the purchase. —Application declined. At the request of the Grown Lands Department the following appraisers were appointed to value the improvements on the undermentioned runs, of which the present holders resign possession on the Ist March, 1891: Banger Hnghan, ran 121, Hummock district. Banger Mackenzie, ran 24, Lake County. And District Surveyor Langmuir, sections 1 and 2, block 2, Cairn hill district; sections 7 and 8, block 3, OalrnbiU district; section 10, block 8, Teviot district; section 8, block 8, do ; and tec tion 5, block 8, do.
