THE LAKES EXCURSION.
Those of our readers who intend taking advantage of the cheap excursion to Lake Wakatipu are reminded that tickets must be obtained at the Dunedin railway station not later than eight o'clock to morrow evening.' By this arrangement the department will be in a position to know what number will travel, and to make the necessary provisions for their comfort. The excursion train leaves Dunedin at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, 7th January, and will connect with the steamer at Kingston, the passengers being thus enabled to land at Queenstown by 6.20 p.m.—a remarkably quick run. As the fare is a very low one—3oa first class and 22s 6d second (including steamer fare between Kingston and Qneenßtown)—the excursion should be well patronised. The steamer runs trips from Queenstown to the head of lake on Thursday and Friday, and on Saturday the return steamer will leavo Queenstown at noon, and the train land the excursionists in Dunedin about midnight.
