It is announced that a project is on foot to erect a National Opera-house in a central position in London. The site has been secured, and the capital is being privately subscribed.
The ex-Empress Eugenie has presented a touching gift to the Empress Frederick, It is a gold medallion of great artistic beauty, bearing her coat-of-arms as Countess of Montijo, richly set with torquoises, rubies, and emeralds. It contains a lock of the giver’s hair.
