(Received November 12, 1800, at 11.16 a.m.) The Press generally uphold the action of the Mayor of Melbourne in refusing to give His Excellency Rear-admiral Scott precedence over the other Australian governors. It is said that Lord Soott declined for a similar reason to attend the farewell banquet given to Lord Carrington. STEAMER COLLISION. BRISBANE, November 12. A collision occurred between the s.s. Burwah and the s.s. Nate off Pike Light, Moreton Bay. The latter sank in ten minutes, but the crew were rescued by a boat from the Burwah. The bow of the Burwah Was considerably damaged. A WEATHER WARNING. BRISBANE, November 12. Mr Wragge, the meteorologist, predicts fresh to strong winds and probably rough seas south of parallel 40 and between the meridians of 60 and 170 east. CHARITABLE AID CONFERENCE. MELBOURNE, November 12. The Intercolonial Charity Conference baa opened here, representatives being present from all the colonies except Western Australia. The Earl of Hopetoan is chairman. The Conference will be conducted on the lines of those held every year in the United States.
