THE POULTRY AND DOG SHOW.

, The sixth annual show promoted by the Duneiin Poultry, Pigeon, Canary, Cagebird, and Dog Society was opened in the Garrison Hall this afternoon. It is a very flns show, *ho beat the.* has been held in Dunedin, for not only are the entries extraordinarily numerous, but in nearly all sectlona there is a distinct advance in point of quality as dothparcd With eihibits ordinarily seen. In poultry classes there are 755 entries as against about 550 last year, and the judges admit that they had great difficulty in making the awards in most of the classes, and we see birds showing high breeding In every section, besides Homo that are not often exhibited—white Wyandottes, for example, a breed that is now shown for the second time only. In pigeonß we note an immense increase in numbers, and in Cage birds the collection la especially good, it being noted with satisfaction that Belgian _ and Scotch fancy canaries are again putting in an appearance aftet; being lefli out bi sHbw for a couple of years. The dog snoW on the basement floor 18 a source of inexhaustible attraction to breeders, and the judges had their work cut out to classify the exhibits, which number nsarly twice as many as last year. In this department there are no fewer than eighteen collies, all but one of the rough class. The unbeaten Yarrow is there for exhibition only, but his produce are well to the front as prize-takers.
