EARLY CLOSING.
TO THB EDITOR. Sir, —So much has lately been said about early closing that I would ask space to say a few words on this subject, I have closed for the last few weeks at six o’clock, owin<» to representations from people that, as I kept a few things in the drapery line, I ought to close with the drapers—viz., at six o’clock. After mature consideration, I have come to the conclusion that it is foolish on my part to close while other people in my trade remain open; for, to every fairminded person it must be clear that I keep fancy goods—not drapery—and until all fancy goods shops close I shall remain open. I have thought it only right to give notice of my intention to keep open, as, should all fancy goods shops agree to close, I will do so, although I am certain that many of my easterners have been inconvenienced through finding my shop closed at six o’clock.—lam, etc., Ma Hooir. Dunedin, Jane 5.
