CITY COUNCIL REPORTS

The following reports will be submitted to tho ordinary meeting of the City Council to-ni^ht:— Water Supply.—The Committee report inter alia that tho surveyor has been instructed to visit the Silverjtream water-race, and if r.ecessary take steps to prevent damage by settlement near the £ ernhill coal mine. Messrs Imrie M Kewen, and Co.'s application for water supply to the Ocean Beach tramway stables has been declined. Public Works. ---The Committee report inter ma that the City Surveyor has been instructed to write again to the contractor for dust removal regarding the unsatisfactory carrying out of his contract, and to carry out certain repairs to channelling, etc., in various streets; several applications for permission to erect signs, connect with drains, etc., have been granted and It o e o?n d w lined . ; - the tender of Mr E - Admore [UM 10«) for painting the outside woodwork of the Town Hall has been accepted ; accounts to the amount of L29110s Id have been passed for payment. Fire Bng*de.-The Committee submit the working rules of the Dunedin City Fire Brigade, amended by the superintendent, and recommend their adoption. The Heserves Committee recommend that in lieu of the youths now engaged at the gardena an under-gardener be engaged at LlOOa year•ndeßttinates, of the year's expenditure on reserves are submitted.
