MUNICIPAL.
NohtTi - east Valley. Last night S' meeting was attended by the Mayor (Mr S, : Myers) and Crs Sparrow, Short, Green, Rilosell, Sparrow, Anderson, Brinsley, and M‘Grego?,—The Works Committee reported, that they had received a letter from Mr P, Cockerill requesting that certain parties be requested to remove all fences and obstructions from off the surveyed portions ol the road lines leading to his property in block X., North Harbor and Blueskin district. They had instructed the clerk to write the persons owning the properties abutting on that portion of the road line ..to remove all obstructions at once. Adopted, —The Sanitary Inspector reported with reference to a nuisance existing on a vacant section adjoining Mr Arundel’s property, owing to the discharge of waste water, etc., from Mrs Jones’s premises in Blach road. He thought that the matter could be bestsettled by the owners of the properties in the vicinity comiflg to an understanding' between themselves with regard to making provision for drainage SO as to prevent the nuisance. The report was adopted.—Frederick C-Jckerill wrote with regard to the survey of a road leading to his property, and stating that Mr J. P. Maitland had informed bin, that the Council ought to survey the road in question. The clerk was instructed to write to Mr Cockerill, stating 1 hat if he called upon the clerk the latter would explain the position of the matter to him.—A number of ratepayers wrote calling the Council’s attention to the state of the gutter in front of Messrs Head’s and WordseU’o properties. Referred to the inspector to report.—The Rev. W, Bautnber wrote applying for the use of the Council Chambers for the purpose of holding weekly religious services therein. The letter was referred to a committee, with power to act. —Cr Brinsley gave notice that he would move at the next meeting of the Council—" That the City and Suburban Tramways Company be instructed and compelled So remove the loop line on the main line between the North-east Valley Police Station and Schvyn, as it is a source of danger to the travelling pub’ic.”
