A HOLIDAY WANTED.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Could you inform your numerous readers if any steps have been taken towards obtaining a general holiday on Thursday next, the day of the great friendly societies’ procession and gala in the Exhibition Grounds. On such an important occasion the railway authorities might see their way to close the workshops and good sheds. As the procession is to start at 10 a.m. sharp it is desirible that wholesale and retail houses should close for the whole day. If this is clone the turnstiles at the Exhibition will in all probability register the largest number of admissions for any single day, including the opening day,—l am, etc., A Member. Caversham, February 28.
