CAVEBSHAM.-Last night's meeting of the ' Council was attended by the Mayor, Crs Bridgman, Coverlid, Nutting, Wilson Lawless, Cole, Kirby, M'Beath, and LnvcrBtoek.—The Finance Committee reported that LlO3 14s 3d had been lodged in the bank since last meeting, and recommended that L 92 17s 3.1 for general account Ll2l Ss on water supply account, and U'J l:ia 9rl on account of relief work at St. Clair, be passed for payment.-The Drainage and Water Committee recommended that the Mayor and Crs Coverlid and Nutting be appointed to again confer with Ihe Sanitary Committee of South Dunedin.-Tho Works and Laths Committee recommended the Council to call for tenders for tailing and sanding 1--chains of footpath in North Uard.Mm South, 83 in Middle, and 41 in Kensington Ward-total, 339 chains; also that 80yds of rotten rock be spread on Coney Hill road, and a few loads on the north side of V ictona street. It wan resolved that the report »e amended as follows-" That the footpath on the Main South ruul, on one side be asphalted 3ft wide from the east side of the Immigration Barracks ground to Mitchell s right-of-way, and that the footpath in front of the Immigration Barracks gromi,. be kerbed."-Mr Bridgrnan's offer to sell t. the Council his interest in the pipes on the Glen road for L 25 was referred, to the \\ ater Committee.—The Premier wrote expressing regret that he could not see his way to pay for the kerbing of footpaths in front of Government lands in the borongh.-Ihe flamaru Council asked the Caversham Council to assist in getting # Government to pass a law consolidating loans to municipal bodies, no as to get the rate of interest lowered. The otter was referred to the Finance Committee. - Mr Turnbull's complaint as to the condition of drains in Arthur street was referred to the inspector.-It was resolved that additional by-laws be prepared with respect to drivers' licenses and bathing at St. C air, and that future meetings of tlw Council be held on Friday evenings.
