NEW ZEALAND EXHIBITION.
At the meeting of the Exhibition Commissioners, held yesterday afternoon, the following appointments to committees were made:—Gardens—Mr W. M'Bean; Messrs S. Gillies and J. Gilmour, delegates from the Amalgamated Society of Engineers, to the machinery ; Mr R. Hume substituted in place of Mr Davies as a delegate from the Commercial Travellers' Association on the Tourists' Committee.
A small sub-committee was appointed to canvass the town and country for shares, in order to get the L 15.000 taken up. Shares have been taken up to date as follows: Paid for, L 10.813 ; promised, L 400; advertising, L 375 ; total, LI 1,588. Among the new applications are the following :—Bank of New Zealand, 100 shares; Proctor, Jones, and Co., 40 ; Mortgage and Investment Co., Tapper and Co., and G. R. West, 10 each; Messrs J. Hopkins, S. Jacobs, and W. H. Taggart, 10 each ; M'Gill and Thomson's employes, 11; Messrs J. P. Armstrong, J. S. Smith, C. Christensen, David Wliite, R. T. Wheeler, W. Isaac, M. Sullivan, and A. T. Price, 5 each. It was intimated that Mr H. S. Fish had induced the Corporation employed to take up 57 Hbareß.
