THE SEARCH FOR PROFESSOR BROWN.
Mr White left thic afternoon by the Stella, having with him Mr M. Begg, of Anderson Buy, and Dr Roberts. Mr Begg is a surveyor, and a buahinan of some experience. Mr Chapman informs us that Mr White will call at the Bluff to-morrow morning to see if there is any definite news cither from the Omapcre or from Mr Mitchell's party. If not, he will proceed to Smith Sound at once, and then push forward with the object of attempting to pass the saddle. He will endeavor to complete the search by going right back to his old camp. Should definite news be heard before ho reaches the Bluff he will return. The following correspondence explains the position of matters : [UIiGENT.] Duntroon, December 10. Fred. Chapman, Esq., Dunedin. Sec Mackenzie unable c.cw lake. How would it do for Stella to call in at Bluff and Mackenzie and party meet her there an i land at Sound ? Dunedin, December 10. Sir H, A. Atkinson, Waimate. Many thanks for your telegram. It would bo too late to recall Mackenzie and party. Had already discussed this with Hon. Mr Fergus, and decided to make up a fresh party for Stolla and run no risk of delay. White has seenred go id man. The Union Company inform me Omapere left Greymontb on Monday and should arrive at Deep Cove yesterday at 3 p.m. If shu remains until to-day she may reach Bluff tomorrow. Stella will call there, and White will then decide according to what he hears from Omapere whether to proceed. FItKDEr.U'K G'HAi'MAN.
