OTAGO AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.
The following is the result of the judging of the beer exhibits in connection with the Otago A. and P. Association's recent show:—
Judges: Messrs J. K. Simpson (Tuapeka Brewery, Lawrence), and T. Austin and George Blyth (Dunedin). Class 1: Light Ales.—J. S. Speight and Co., land 2; M'Gavin, M'Gregor, and Co., 3; M. Joel, oommended. Class 2: Medium Ale.—J. Speight and Co., 1 and 2; M'Gavin, M'Gregor, and Co., 3; J. Speight and Co., highly commended. Class 3: Heavy Ale.—J, Speight and Co., 1 and 2; M. Joel, 3. Porter.—J. Speight and Co., 1; M. Joel, 2; M'Gavin, M'Gregor, and Co., 3. Bottled Ale.—M'Gavin, M'Gregor and Co., 1 and 3; J. Barron, 2. Bottled Porter. Dunedin Brewery, 1; M'Gavin, M'Gregor, and Co., 2; M. Joel, 3.
A Cincinnati servant girl wasn't peeping through the keyhole nor listening at the door, but when it was suddenly opened the knob struck her in the head and cracked her skull, and she was in the hospital four months. She suggests that someone ought to invent a Boft rubber door-knob for use in the lower rooms of every house employing female help. A fop took a seat in a tramway car beside a young lady, but, on perceiving she had a dog, he moved off with an air of trepidation. " Don't be afraid," she said, with a reassuring tone; " Jip won't bite you, he does not like veal,"
