MUNICIPAL.
Norm-East Valley.—At this Council's meeting last night the Financo Committee reported that they had had under consideration a letter from the secretary of the NorthEast Valley Fire Brigade asking for payment or tho Lib voted by the Council, and recommended that the amount be not paid until such time as trustees were appointed and the engine handed over to them in trust; that LlO6 18s lOd had been paid into the bank since last meeting ; and that the bank overdraft to general account was L 1,850 15s 2d. The Works Committee recommended that ten loads of quarry chips, at 2s per load, be obtained for filling in the rut;; on Black road ; that the inspector be authorised to procure tar and sand for top dressing the footpaths on the main road, and also to tar the channel from Sunuydale to Dalkeith ; and that the asphalt be renewed frouting M'Grain's Hotel.—With reference to a "letter from D. Findlay and Mulholland re formation of road leading to tho Maori [fill borough at Pine Hill, the Committee recommended that the inspector prepare plans 'mi specifications for the work, and that the same be submitted to Messrs Findlay and Mulholland, and if they were prepared to perform the work at the price contained in their letter of the 27th September the Council entertain the offer.—The report was adopted.
