THE PROPOSED EXHIBITION.

A meeting of tho Exhibition Committee was held, last evening and attended by Messrs John Roberts (chairman), James Mills, M.H.R., F. Fitchett, M.H.R., H. S. Fish, M.H.R., His Worship the Mayor (Mr W. Dawson), T. Hardy (Adelaide), T. Kempthorne, B. Hallenstein, J. H. Morrison, A. Bartleman, Graham (Milton Pottery), A. Lee Smith, R. S. Sparrow, R. E. N. Twopeny, M. Joel, G. Bell, C. R. Chapman, H. E. Hart, H. Driver, Dr Belcher, C. Ziele, N. Y. A. Wales, R. L. Stanford, R. Chisholm, and R. Brownlie. The following names were added to the Provisional Committee :—Hon. W. H. Reynolds, Crs Carroll, Gourley, Barron, Cohen, Cramond, M'Gregor, Hardj, Solomon, and Kimbell, Messrs, W. L. Phiip, T. Brown, A. Thomson, M. Mendershausen, and J. M. Ritchie. After a long discussion, it wa3 decided to float a company under the Companies Act, 1882, for the purpose of guaranteeing the necessary amount, the company to be called the New Zealand Exhibition Company, with a nominal capital of LIO.OOO, in LI shares. It was decided to leave the question of whether the Exhibition should be a New Zealand or intercolonial one to the shareholders. The following gentlemen were appointed as provisional directors, subject to their consent being obtained :—The Mayor, Dr Belcher, Sir R. Stout, Professor Brown, Hon. W. H. Reynolds, M.L.C., Messrs Burt, Hallenstein, G. L. Denniston, H. Driver, R. E. N. Twopeny, W. D. Stewart, M.H.R., James Allen, M.H.R., J. Roberts, J. H. Morrison, J. Ross, Mitchell, Emery, Sinclair, Lee Smith, Robin, J. L. Gilliea, Kempthorne, Sparrow, Wales, Glendining, H. S. Fish, M.H.K., A. H. Ross, M.H.R., Brownlie, J. Mills, M.H.R., W. Barron, M.H R., Stanford, Joel, Maokerras, Bell, W. Graham, Ziele, Wilson, Bartleman, M'Gavin, Chisholm, J. M. Ritchie, Chapman, H. E. Hart, A. Macfarlane, Carroll, Gourley, Barron, Cohen, Cramond, M'Gregor, Hardy, Solomon, Kimbell, W. L. Philp, T. Brown, M. Mendershausen, A. Thomson, and Dr Fitohett, M.H.R. The following officers were appointed : Secretary, Mr D. Harris Hastings; treasurer, Mr A. Bartleman ; solicitors, Messrs Stanford and Milne. The Colonial Bank was chosen as the bank of the company. The following gentlemen were appointed to draw up articles of association, prospectus, etc.:—Messrs J. Roberts, J. Mills, M.H.R., W. Dawson, J. Ross, J. T. Maokerras, R. E. N. Twopeny, A. Lee Smith, A. M'Farlane, and M. Joel.

Mill (Port Chalmers), LSO; Professor Brown, LSO; R.S. Sparrow, LOO; Graham and Winter, LSO; Dr Belcher, LSO ; H. S. Fish, L 25; Dr Fitchett, L 25 ; R. E. N. Twopeny, L 25 ; N. Y. A. Wales, L 25 or LSO; C. R. Chapman, L 25 or LSO; A. Thomson, L 2 5; W. L. Philp, L2O ; C. Colclough, L2o—total, L 1.640. Arrangements were made for an immediate canvass of the leading merchants and manufacturers, and the remainder of the town during next week.
