VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.

The North Dunedin Rifles fired the first of a series of competitions for a cup presented by the New Zealand Clothing Factory this iporning, at the Pelichet Bay range. Ranges, 200, 400, and 500 yards ; seven shots at each distance. The morning was a very rough one, and the scores not up to the usual mark. Twenty-two members competed, and the following are the highest :

The second of the series of inter-company matches was fired on Saturday last between teams representing the Irish Rifles and the Highland Rifles at the Holyrood range. The conditions were the same as in the former match —viz., 200, 300, and 500 yards ; seven shots at each distance. Owing to the high wind and changeable light the shooting was not up to the average.
