At the annual meeting of the Canterbury Farmers' Co-operative Society the Chairman (Mr Ensor) Bald : " I wish to call attention to a new Industry which Is arising In our midst, and which will be of very great importance. I allude to the production of clover seed. At the present timo farmers in New Zealand are paying annually for imported clovers and other farm seeds no lew a sum than L6Q,r>oo. There is no doubt that we have soil and o itnate equal to any in the world for tbcsucoessfiil carrying nut of this industry, and we should soon be exporters to the same amount that we now import, thus giving farmers another string to their bow. With this in view we have requested our London agent to send us out the most improved machinery for dressing these seeds. In conclusion, let our farmers remain true to themselves and their own interests, and there is yet a great future before them in New Zealand. The very oanses which are working and continuing the agricultural depression at Home am traceable lo strain anil machinery bringing far distant colonies of the Empire into competition. These causes n.ust eventually react in O'.ir favor, and induce an influx of capital and labor, ensuring full occupation and profitable employment of our lauds and renewed prosperity in the near future " PROPERTY SALE.
