The weekly meeting of the above was attended by Messrs Solomon (in the chair), Haynes, Rennie, Green, Calder, Pagan. The following return of the cost of provisions, etc., for the Institution for the month of May was laid upon the table : Groceries, L 44 4s 8d ; meat, Lls llsSd; bread, L2O 17s; milk, Ll3 9s lid; medicines, LI2 9s; fish, L2 3s ; Newcastle coal, L 5 18s Id ; ironmongery, LC 16s 3d ; drapery, L 6 16s 3d ; leather, L37s4d ; matting, etc., L 3 9s 6d ; potatoes, etc., L 6 10s Id ; funerals, L 7 2s 6d ; pigs purchased, L 4 8s; gas, L 7 0s lOd ; repairs, 18s ; books, 7s fid ; carpenters' work, LI 10s; water, L 4 i)s 4d; salaries of master, matron, and servants, L 25 17s 8d; doctor's salary, L 4 3s 4d; total, L 233 17s Cd. There are 193 inmates in the lustitution at an average cost of about f>B 5Jd per head per week. Accounts for payment were passed amounting to L 402 128 6d. The Chairman said that in connection with the accounts Messrs A. and J. M'Farlane asked to be allowed an extra 2d por lb on tea supplied to the Institution, the duty on that article having been raised since they tendered.—The increase was allowed.

The SkPRKTARY reported that an inmate, Daniel M'Kay, aged seventy-four, died on the 27th. It was decided to forward the thanks of the Institution to Mr Foley for his entertainment to the inmates of the Institution on Friday night, About forty applications for relief were dealt with.
