POST-MORTEM SALVATION.
TO THB EDITOB. SIH, —I wish to point out a mistake or two that Mr J. G. S. Grant made in his review of Mr Aldridge's pamphlet. He says that Air Aldridge would have us believe that unless wo accepted Christadelphianism we cannot be saved or get eternal life. Now, I have listened to about 150 lectures by Mr Aldridge, and have read his pamphlet, but I cannot find any statement to lead an unbiassed mind to such a conclusion. Mr Aldridge is one of the most liberal of preaohers; he believes that all who love Christ and manifest that love by their obedience to him (as far as they know His will) shall receive God's supreme gift of eternal life. It is just here that the Christadelphians condemn him for not denying salvation to all who arc not baptised into the hope of Israel. Mr Grant, like many others, calls all Christadelphians who holtl similar views to those of that party. Let us try that logic on, Mr Grant. He believes some things in common with Roman Catholics ; therefore, be is a Papist. But he, like all partiallyinformed people, condemns Christadelphians without knowing much about them. At the close of his review, Mr Grant says that Mr Aldridge is wrong_ in saying that orthodox people believe in consciousness in death. He does not do so, but believes in consciousness after death. Mr Aldridge believes and teaches that death is followed by a resurrection, and that then, and not till then, will there be consciousness. This may be termed a smart catch on the part of Mr Grant; but will he try to demonstrate his affirmation that persons are not conscious in dying, but are fully so after it. If he would come and hear for himself he would be able to speak with more wisdom on the subject.—l am, etc, J.N. Dunedin, May 24. [This correspondence is closed.—Ed. E.S.]
