VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE

The volunteer officers of the Otago district intend giving a dinner at the City Hotel on the 24th May (Queen's Birthday). Surgeon Coughtrey and Captains Proudfoot and Milne are working up the affair. The annual meeting of the Dunedin District Officers' Club was held last night. There was a very good attendance. Friday evenings have been set apart for lectures, a number of the members having volunteered their services. Lieutenant-colonel Wales fave the first lecture last Friday evening, 'he next lecture will be on the 25th inst. The following were elected office-bearers : President, Lieutenant-colonel Wales ; vicepresident, Lieutenant-colonel Reeves; hon. secretary and treasurer, Captain Proudfoot; committee—Major Burns, Captain Smith (D.N.A.), Surgeon Coughtrey, and Captain Milne; auditor, Captain Smith (City Guards).
