An American jnry have given a verdict of L 9.000 damages in a breach of promise action brought against Charles Arbuckle, senior member of a New York firm of coffee merchants, by Clara Campbell, the daughter of a prominent western forge-master. This is the largest amount, with one exception, ever given in the United States to a plain tiff in a breach of promise suit. A well-known tobacco merchant at Havannah has sent 10,000 cigars of tho finest quality to Madrid as a present to the infant King of Spain. They ought to be in grand order by the time that His Majesty is old enough to smoke them.
