VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.

The only Dunedin corps that went into camp this Easter was B Battery. Thirtyfive men are encamped in a paddock belonging to Dr Coughtrey, at St. Clair. They started out on Thursday, and had an inauspicious beginning, as one of the horses took a fit just after leaving the hall; but the carriage was run back, the men otherwise disposed of, and a fresh start made in ten minutes. Captain Proudfoot is in charge of the camp. The reveille is sounded at six ; company drill is engaged in in the morning, and gun drill in the afternoon; and the last post is at 10.30, when all lights are extinguished. The tents arc comfortable and dry, notwithstanding the bad weather, and the men submit to the discipline like true soldiers. Shot and shell practice was held on Saturday afternoon, three guns firing at White Island, The camp will break up to-day. At Pelichct Bay on Friday the Dunedin City Guards and Tuapeka Rifles fired a friendly match, ten men a-side. Ranges, 200, 300, and 500 yards; seven shots at each range. The Guards proved victors by 25 points. The following are the scores Dunedin City Guards. 200 300 COO
