By the capsizing of a boat in Akaroa Harbor yesterday afternoon a lad named Heiver was drowned. His companion Brown was saved by some Maoris. J. Gill, a well-known Auckland cricketer, who represented bis province in the team that visited the South in 1882, died on his farm at Takapuna yesterday from serous apoplexy. At Hokitika yesterday a little girl named Bergman choked herself with an apple. A piece lodged in her throat, and despite the efforts of her parents and neighbors could not be got rid of, the child dying before medical assistance was procured. A boy named M'Quiggan, while getting driftwood from the Hokitika River, slipped in and was carried down by the current.
