The amount of revenue collected at the Customhouse on goods cleared to-day for consumption was L 609 U-. London has not had in the case of Bass a repetition of the Guinness and Allsopp scramble, but considering the limited issue the rush has been proportionately great. The exact figures are not yet Known, but the lowest estimate puts the offers for the issue at fifteen times the amount required, while some declare that the L 910.000 of debentures have been applied for thirty times over. For the million and a half of Allsopp’s ordinary and preference shares offered to the public, the applications exceed 100,000,000. la the present case it is more than ever certain that only the trade will receive an allotment. Tiro quotation in the market in 117-19, or 10-12 over the issue price, a difference sufficient to account lor the extent of the applications.
