The many friends of Captain Robert Bance, of the 8 s. Coptic, won d learn with regret his sudden death, which took |;lace on the 14th November last, two days after lca\ing Wellington far London After leaving port he was coi.fintd to his room suffering from a severe cold on his chest. Bs was treated by the doctor, who saw him frequently, the list time being at 11 p.m. on the day previous to his diet use. E-rl Shaftesbury went home from New Zealand in the steamer, and His Excellency H. G. Mecdonell, British Minister to the Brazils, was a passenger from Rio to London.
