In the House of Commons to-day the Hon. Mr Matthews, Home Secretary, admitted that the police had blundered when they arrested Mr P. O'Brien, M.P., instead of Mr J. Gilhooly, M.P. for Cork West, and he tendered an apology. Mr Morley moved that the question of privilege be referred to a committee of the House, but the amendment of the (Government regretting the indignity offered to MiO'Brien was carried.
Mr Sullivan, M.P., in a lengthy speech in the House of Commons, stated that he had come to the conclusion that the Irish people in all parts of tho world were more friendly disposed towards England than was credited them. In the House of Lords the Karl of Dunraven has given notice of a resolution in the direction of improving the constitution of the House of Lords. In December last the Earl of Duuraven suggested that the House of Lords should consist of 100 members, elected from the peers of the realm.
